Scenario idea

While I was working today I came up with what could make for a really interesting scenario in the world of zombie apocalypse wargaming.

The idea is kind of a gladiatorial / running man scenario where a gang of survivors has barricaded the streets of a city block.

The barricades are built in such a way that they can not be climbed easily, and even if they were, the gang members stand on raised platforms behind the barricades.

A small barricade...

...but this is more of what I had in mind.
Apart from a few controlled entry/exit points there is no way in or out of the city block; at least as far as the gang knows.

These twisted survivors throw captured survivors that are not from their gang (or maybe they are, and this is a form of punishment) into the city block arena without any weapons. These captured survivors are known as 'sport'.

Hidden within the city block arena are some useful melee weapons. The 'sport' have no idea where they are hidden, so they need to search for them if they want to increase their chance of survival.

I don't think this is what the 'sport' could expect to find,
But this could be easily found.

The sport has a certain amount of time to prepare themselves for the 'competition' before zombies are released in to the city block.

Depending on the excitement level of the spectators more or less zombies could be released in to the arena, and to make things interesting there could be traps around as well.

The scenario would end when one of the following conditions are met: all zombies are destroyed, the 'sport' is eaten, or the 'sport' finds a way out of the arena that the gang didn't know about and exacts revenge upon the lot of them before clearing out to safer climes.

I think this could make for an interesting game that would have a lot of tension in it. Plus it would give me another reason to use biker miniatures for my games.

Diecast cars

I have been browsing through ebay looking at the 1/43 scale diecast vehicles for use in the game.

I think I should have a couple of vehicles before I start designing roads for the gaming area - that way I wont make them too small or too big, and thus save myself a bit of time and grief.

As I was looking at a pick up truck that I want to use as part of a scenario (more on that below) I noticed that the one I was looking at was only 1 of 1,000 made. I chuckled to myself wondering what collectors would think if they knew what a 'collectors item' was being used for instead of keeping it in it's box in a pristine condition.

As for the scenario - a pick up truck (or similar) is placed in a central position on the gaming area and a minimum number of items must be placed in the back before the pick up can be driven off to safety.

Basically it is a scrounging scenario, where a minimum of supplies are needed - say two ammo, two food, a first aid kit and so on per survivor figure before the conditions are me and the truck can be driven to the stronghold.

If all buildings are searched and not enough goodies have been collected, then the truck may be driven off.

Of course you have to contend with zombies and other survivors trying to keep you away from the goodies you find, making a guard important... but where do you put the guard so that they wont be eaten by zombies?

Hmm - I might have to make a bill board that can be climbed. Park the pick up at the base of the bill board and keep the hoards at bay.

Swing set for my "A Day in the Park" scenario idea

To help "populate" my park where i intend to do some zombie hunting i made a set of swings by using some kebab sticks, some thread and the plastic from the blister pack some figurers can in.

Scenario idea - "Schools out... FOR EVER"

Ok, so blame it on Alice Cooper, as i was listening to "Schools out for summer".

The game will be set in a derelict school. The local zombies have become a nusiance - not knowing where else to go when there aren't any fresh brains to eat they just "hang out" at the local school.

This will also give me the chance to use some of those great zombie figures out there, such as the Cheerleader and other school yard terrors.
